An organization's ability to create and manage contracts in Doc Express® depends on its subscription status. Any paying organization can own and manage contracts, regardless of whether it's set up as an agency or a contractor.
Subscription expiration warning banner
When your organization's subscription is approaching its expiration date, Doc Express displays a banner with the following information:
- the expiration date
- a link to renew or contact your administrator
You keep full access to Doc Express while the banner displays. The banner is a reminder, not a restriction. Your account's representative can renew the contract.
What happens after your license expires
If a subscription expires without renewal, contracts and documents owned by that organization become read-only for everyone who can see them—the organization's own users and any contractor or other user with granted access.
Read-only means you can still:
- View contracts and documents
- Download and export documents
- Search and filter
- Mark contracts as favorites
- Change who has access to a contract
Read-only means you can no longer:
- Create, edit, or delete contracts, drawers, or documents
- Submit or transition documents
Doc Express doesn't show a general banner when a subscription expires. Instead, any contract or document affected by the expired subscription displays a Read Only marker, and opening an affected contract shows a banner stating the contract is read-only.

Good to know If the organization renews its subscription, affected contracts and documents immediately become editable again. No data is lost while a contract is read-only. |
